lululemon is an innovative performance apparel company for yoga, running, training, and other athletic pursuits. Setting the bar in technical fabrics and functional design, we create transformational products and experiences that support people in moving, growing, connecting, and being well. We owe our success to our innovative product, emphasis on stores, commitment to our people, and the incredible connections we make in every community we're in. As a company, we focus on creating positive change to build a healthier, thriving future. In particular, that includes creating an equitable, inclusive and growth-focused environment for our people.
Our purpose is to elevate human potential by helping people feel their best.
"From day one, we enable our people to discover their own purpose. Because we know that when everyone is connected to their own purpose and aligned with the company’s purpose, it allows us to propel each other forward. And truly realize the full potential within every one of us."
— Calvin McDonald, CEO
We create transformative products and experiences that build meaningful connections, unlocking greater possibility and wellbeing for all.
Our Core Values
What we hold as most important.
We act with honesty and integrity, taking full accountability for our choices and their impact.
We build trusting relationships by valuing and celebrating each human’s uniqueness.
We remove barriers to equity so that everyone has a sense of belonging.
We have the heart and strength to do big, challenging, and important things for each other and our planet.
We infuse joy and laughter into all we do, which allows us to turn work into play.
We are a team of committed people who care deeply for each other, believe anything is possible, and relentlessly pursue our growth together.
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) at lululemon
Our IDEA mission is to expand being well to encompass a culture of inclusion where diversity is celebrated, equity is the norm, and action is the commitment.
In June 2020, we shared the following commitments to accelerate our mission to drive meaningful, lasting change in the world and promote wellbeing across our communities.
• Increase funding, accelerate actions, and create accountability for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action.
• Create an ongoing dialogue between underrepresented members of our collective with Calvin McDonald and our Senior Leadership Team.
• Expand our training, learning, and development to support Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity.
• Increase diverse representation among our employees and our collective.
• Use our brand and our voice to advocate for change.
• We have committed $5 million USD per year to support with our commitments and we continue to share updates on our IDEA efforts and commitments in our annual Impact Report.
Some key recent investments include:
o Designing across our entire business for as many people as possible, including store locations, employment policies, and product and guest interactions.
o Developed and piloted IDEA toolkits focused on inclusive language, conscious and unconscious behaviours, cultural humility, and harm reduction practices.
People Networks at lululemon
o The intention of these networks is to cultivate safe spaces, and community for employees with intersectional and marginalized identities and supporters to connect, restore, grow, and develop. To date, these networks have created spaces for 1,200 employees.
Together and in partnership with the business, our networks help foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace that is aligned with our values and purpose.
o At lululemon, we have ten People Networks, representing Asian, Black, Chronic Illness, Mental Health & Disabilities, Indigenous, Jewish, Latiné, LGBTQIA2S+, Size Inclusivity, South Asian and Women in STEM.
o At lululemon, our goal is to foster a respectful, positive, and inclusive work environment where diversity and inclusion are not only celebrated but fully expressed as a defining aspect of our culture. One of the ways we experience this is by actively removing barriers to equity and ensuring that every employee has equitable access to our hiring processes and workplace, through our workplace Accommodation Program. When a barrier is identified, we are committed to exploring options to remove the barrier. lululemon will reasonably accommodate applicants and employees who qualify for a medical, religious or other accommodation to the extent required by law. Even when lululemon is not legally required to do so, we may still attempt to support an employee's request, per our IDEA commitments.
IDEA Global Internship Program
o This program provides interns with the space to be their authentic selves in our inclusive environment, where they grow through our 3-tier support system and have unlimited opportunities to make an impact and be celebrated.
o During the 12-week paid program, our interns are provided with skills for the future and given insight into our whole business and sector through a thoughtfully curated internship curriculum. In 2021, 87% of our interns were from underrepresented groups and located across Canada, the USA and Australia.
