Job Description

Job Purpose / Role

Responsible for providing loss control expertise, support and assistance to Allianz Commercial and its customers, to assist Allianz underwriting in risk selection and retention. Provide ongoing co-ordination and monitoring of the loss control activity / servicing of assigned accounts & loss control survey work to assist with servicing of assigned accounts. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with Underwriting, Market Management, Communications, Claims, clients and brokers. Maintain and enhance technical skills and expertise in respective field to support the business.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Assessments
  • Complete loss control engineering desk top reviews and risk assessments (pre & post loss) for underwriting evaluating and summarising exposures and controls.

Consulting Services
  • Work with underwriting, claims, the client and the broker where appropriate to develop customised loss control programmes including locations to be surveyed (or included as part of continuing service), scope, and cost of risk consulting services.

Services Guidance
  • Generate and review required reports and recommendations.
  • Meet reporting deadlines in accordance with departmental performance objectives.

Survey Analysis
  • Survey client operations, obtain appropriate data, identify hazards, discuss findings with appropriate parties.
  • Generate loss control reports, recommendations, etc.

3rd Party Support
  • Appoint / monitor 3rd parties, ensuring adequate contract / controls in place with budgets agreed up front.
  • Check and ensure quality of work provided by 3rd parties.

Projects
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders with respect to ongoing or specific projects.
  • Support technical training presentations for internal and external clients as required / appropriate.

External Client Services
  • Collaborate with Risk Consulting Work Group to develop and offer new external client services.


Key Requirements / Skills / Experience

Required Experience
  • Loss control engineering experience in an area of Construction Projects.
  • Good knowledge and professional experience in business sectors.
  • Work experience in loss control engineering within the insurance industry will be an advantage.

Required Education
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Bachelor's Degree equivalent in other area will be considered in conjunction with extensive technical experience.

Required Technical Skills
  • A demonstrable engineering / technical expertise.
  • Commitment to maintaining knowledge of developments and new technologies in field.
  • Able to work technical loss control topics.
  • Knowledge of specific business sectors.

Required General Skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Presentation skills in a varied environment.
  • Organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Language: English (bilingual will be an advantage).
