PURPOSE STATEMENTMorey's Seafood as part of Rich Products is looking for a Group Leader on second shift in our processing area. We offer excellent benefits with a team and family atmosphere. This position will regularly process fresh and frozen fish by hand or machine per customer orders, specifications or to replenish Company inventory needs. Assist with receiving and have full responsibility for all procedures and forms.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMESESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee, coordinate and provide leadership to and review of the work of assigned staff
Direct workflow and audit shipments for accuracy
Train new employees
Process fish by hand or machine from fresh or frozen form
Report discrepancies/deviations in incoming/outgoing fish
Request supplies as needed
Ensure products are received/stored properly and that end of day product storage and clean-up are completed
Consistently practice and support all safety rules and guidelines
Be flexible and assist in other areas of the company as needed/requested
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May consist of concrete floors, cold, wet and damp surroundings and working in and out of coolers and freezers. Waterproof boots, uniforms, hair/beard nets and earplugs are mandatory in designated areas. May have odors of fish.
Ability to prioritize projects and daily assignments as needed
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to safely lift a minimum of 55 lbs.
Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10 hours (with breaks)
Ability to work well independently or in a team atmosphere
Must be self directed and able to work without supervision
Must possess proficient primary math skills
Proficiency in operating pallet jacks
Ability to give direction and train employees in processes, safety and sanitation
Strong knowledge of fish species and ability to visually identify
Proficiency in using fillet knife and knife safety
Ability to initiate new and routine procedures by encouraging teamwork and cooperation without prompting
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Incumbent is responsible for overseeing production floor therefore is directly in charge of processing area. Must report all problems to the supervisor of the processing department. May participate in counseling sessions with employees.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school degree or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience; food processing preferred
