About the role

As a E & I tech you will work safely to maintain, diagnose, and repair various types of power plant equipment, this includes maintenance related to boilers and its associated electrical and control equipment, repair and operation of field controllers, instrumentation, motor control centers and other power plant electrical equipment ranging from 120V to 13.8kv, and AC switchgear.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times & follow all Reworld Energy Corporation safety policies
  • As an Instrument and Electrical, the inspection and maintenance work required on the Facilities high medium and low volt systems, distribution, controls, and equipment associated with the Durham York Waste to Energy Facility.
  • PLCs (Allen Bradley RSVIEW, RSLIGIX 5000, SCL-500, Control Logix, Omron)
  • VFDs
  • Control valves, damper drives and process control transmitters, electronic and pneumatic controls calibration and maintenance
  • 120V to 115KV switchgear
  • MCC Controls
  • 125VDC and UPS systems
  • Relay logic
  • Process loop controllers
  • Test, troubleshoot, and PM various types of motors ranging from 1-2000 AC/DC horsepower.
  • P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manual for electrical equipment installation, troubleshooting, and programming.
  • Helping to redesign instrumentation, control, and electrical systems, as required.
  • Test equipment such as Megger, DLRO, and DMM.
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Camera systems, both IP and analog
  • Access control
  • Experience in maintaining PLCs and DSC (ABB) systems to ensure facility safety and reliability.
  • Fiber data networking
  • Computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel Teams, and Outlook as well as Maintenance Management Program (ALM)
  • Trouble shoot, assess, inspect, and adjust, and make repairs, calibration, modify & install as needed to the Facilities Continuous Emission Monitoring systems (CEMs) systems as well all flow, pressure, temperature, level Instrumentation and data acquisition and historian devises. This includes but is not limited to Transmitter flow devise level controls temperature measurement, and flue analysis equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks including routine calibration thermography & ultrasonic testing and will actively participate in the periodic teardown and internal inspection of major equipment and subcomponents.
  • Must have strong computing skill in MS Word, Excel,
  • Must be able to maintain excellent records and documentation control.
  • Read and interpret measuring tools, graphs technical manuals.
  • Must be able to reference provincial & federal codes and environmental permits and translate them to actionable items.
  • Must be able to interface effectively with the Client, Public, and source testing and Regulatory agency officers.


Position Requirements
  • The position of Instrumentation /Electrical Technician requires at least three to five years' industrial experience in the repair and maintenance of Electrical and Instrumentation systems and equipment. A high school education and formal technical or apprentice training is required. The candidate will have Education training and experience in process automation and control; an Ontario Industrial Electrical certification would be considered an asset. As well a strong background in CEMs is a desired attribute for this position.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general technical procedures, or drawings .Ability to write comprehensive logs, reports, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peer group or supervision. Proficient in the use of MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Prior experience with Maintenance Management Software is an asset.
