Our Honeywell Building Technologies (HBT) team, based at our Bentleigh East office in Melbourne, are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join their Xtralis team. Xtralis is the leading global provider of powerful solutions for the very early & reliable detection of smoke, fire, and gas threats. Our technologies prevent disasters by giving users time to respond before life, critical infrastructure or business continuity is compromised. In this role you will investigate and develop new technology aligned to the Advanced Detection Growth Strategy.


Reporting to the Engineering Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

·         Innovate smoke detection technology for Advanced detection product lines

·         Create a shared vision of the new technology goals between all the stakeholders

·         Timely open and trustworthy reporting of risks, results, status, value and forward plans

·         Audit projects to satisfy compliance to systems and processes

·         Improve productivity by addressing deficiencies and implementing changes in tools, training, processes, and reporting

·         Commitment and pro-active adherence to Honeywell policies, statutory policies and relevant government regulations

·         Experience in developing products from small to medium manufacturing volume


Key Experience & Capabilities:

·         A tertiary education in Engineering, Fire engineering background is highly desirable

·   Engineering experience in leading greenfield technology product or product development in electronics, optics design, mechanical or firmware

·         Adaptable to change priorities to meet changing demands

·         Methodical and can identify problems, issues and opportunities

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Self-starter but able to work in a fast-paced team environment

·         Recognize hazards and can think outside the box

·         Good listener and fast learner
