Be part of our Process
Information & Control (PIC) team in UOP Engineering that designs, develops
and integrates highly complex software functions within Honeywell UOP. You will
use your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. You will also
generate innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel
ways to deal with problems and opportunities.
Position Overview:
PIC control systems have components of regulatory and batch control, advanced process control, expert systems, DCS (Distributed Control Systems) Interfacing and training simulators. PIC's work process also involves staging and testing of its products with a dynamic simulator and the programming of same. PIC is involved in the production and development of many different control systems that are sold to external customers. Each member of the PIC Service Support Group has the responsibility for ongoing development of existing products and the support of the Project Engineering and Field Operating Service (FOS) Groups. Additionally, the development of control systems for new UOP processes are regularly undertaken by the group. The PIC department is accountable for the production and development of custom control systems based on PLCs and PCs that are sold to external customers.
Key Responsibilities
Providing
technical support to internal advisors and external customers for PIC
control systems, via emails, phone calls, and/or site visits with
occasional unplanned off-hours support.
Travel to customer
sites for PIC control system power-up, commissioning, start-ups, and/or
trainings.
Internal
Training – lead, plan, coordinate and conduct training classes for
entry-level rotational engineers covering control system hardware and
software topics for PIC product lines and its applications.
Support UOP
Initiatives and Sales Support / Business discussions for UOP New Product
Initiatives (NPI) and After-Market Business (AMB) opportunities related to
control system retrofits, upgrades, site services and/or spare parts.
Assist with, or
execute independently, PIC software programming assignments and project
deliverables within budgeted cost and schedule at the appropriate level of
quality
Provide
recommendations for Continuous Improvement of software/programs, project
documents, service support and testing activities to improve the
competitiveness of UOP PIC products
Maintenance and
development of product line specific RAIL (Running Action Item List),
operating manuals, standards
(ISO-9001) and resources (coaching & training) so that PIC area can
effectively transfer technology to the marketplace in a manner that
maximizes value to UOP and to our customers
Identifying and
executing opportunities for continuous work process and productivity
improvements, for optimization, integration and better alignment of
project deliverables and service support methods of multiple PIC product
lines by maximizing efficiency through better methods, masters, systems,
and tools; minimizing the costs and response times
Addressing root
causes identified from Corrective & Preventative Action (C&PA)
analysis and project postmortems, leading the discussions when required.
Regular
reporting/escalation of high-risk items from assigned projects/tasks to
leadership, and leading team meetings for status updates and triaging of
the projects/daily tasks
Configuring/networking
PCs, maintaining Virtual Machines (VMs) and control system hardware to
allow simulation and troubleshooting of hardware and/or software for
customer support
Ability to travel up to 15% annually to both domestic and international locations.
You Must Have
Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science
5+ years of control systems software development and customization experience
We Value
Degree focused on Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Control System experience, specifically with UOP PIC Product Lines (PSA, ACCS, CRCS, DRCS, EIS, etc)
Experience in developing/customizing control systems software for batch or continuous process application in the refining and/or petrochemicals industries is considered ideal
Working knowledge of Honeywell control system products and software including Experion HMIWeb, Safety Builder, Safety Manager, Control Builder and C300 as a strong plus
Working knowledge of HMI programming software such as InTouch Wonderware as a plus.
Working knowledge of programmable controllers and its programming software such as Invensys Tricon/Trident, Tristation, Siemens S7, Modicon M580, EcoStruxure ControlExpert, Studio5000 and/or Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC as a strong plus
Understanding of interfaces such as RS-232, RS-422, Ethernet, fiber optic, and interface protocols such as Modbus and Object Linking & Embedding for Process Control (OPC)
Understanding of control panel electrical schematics including components such as power supplies, breakers, relays, and analog and digital wire loops
Understanding of the concepts and role of software within control systems as a key
Understanding various software development lifecycle. Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices
Strong organizational, troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills
