Job Description ProspectBlue has partnered with a Fredericksburg-based personal injury law firm and is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal who combines organization, compassion, and strong follow-through. In this role, you'll partner closely with attorneys on a wide range of injury cases-helping move matters forward, supporting case strategy, and serving as a dependable resource for clients throughout the legal process. Key Duties • Act as a consistent and compassionate liaison for clients, ensuring they stay informed and supported from intake through resolution. • Draft, revise, and submit legal filings such as pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and subpoenas in accordance with Virginia court requirements, including electronic filing systems. • Maintain well-organized case files (digital and physical), ensuring documents are accurate, complete, and easy to retrieve. • Coordinate attorney schedules by tracking deadlines, court appearances, depositions, and other important case milestones. • Perform in-depth legal research using platforms like LexisNexis and Westlaw to assist with case preparation across various personal injury matters. • Support trial preparation by assembling exhibits, organizing evidence, and compiling case materials for hearings and court proceedings. • Review and edit documents carefully for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable rules. • Handle general administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence, managing filings, and communicating with courts and opposing counsel. Preferred Background • Prior experience in personal injury litigation in Virginia is highly valued; comparable legal support experience will also be considered. • Familiarity with Virginia court procedures, filing systems, and document standards is a plus. • Strong legal research skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, usable insights. • Experience using case management platforms (e.g., Clio, MyCase, SmartAdvocate) and openness to emerging legal technologies, including AI-based tools. • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems. • Exceptional written communication skills and a sharp eye for detail. • Ability to juggle multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. • Professional judgment and discretion when working with confidential information.
