Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing General Contractor in Miami. This role will play a key part in preconstruction, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans, and supporting the bidding process for commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and experienced in both ground-up and interior construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and drawings
- Analyze subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitive and accurate pricing
- Participate in preconstruction and bid strategy meetings
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Review project scope, identify risks, and propose cost-saving alternatives
- Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure smooth project handoff
- Assist in preparing bid packages, proposals, and budgets
- Maintain historical cost data and improve estimating processes
- Support value engineering efforts and scope clarifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of estimating experience with a General Contractor
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods and materials
- Experience with ground-up and interior projects
- Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) and Excel
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
