The Production Planning Manager oversees all day-to-day production activities within the Merritt Island plant. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication of components through disciplined planning, workflow coordination, process management, and team leadership. The Production Planning Manager directly supervises production supervisors and craft personnel, drives operational performance, and ensures alignment between production output, project schedule demands, and Building Blocks' quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership & Operations Management
- Oversee all production lines, work centers, and daily fabrication activities within the plant.
- Ensure production schedules, takt times, and workflow plans are met without compromising quality or safety.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Quality, Yard Operations, and Logistics to ensure seamless production flow.
- Monitor production capacity, equipment readiness, and staffing levels to meet operational demands.
- Conduct daily floor walks to identify constraints, verify work quality, and support frontline supervisors.
Team Management & Development
- Directly supervise Production Supervisors and indirectly oversee all production personnel.
- Assign workloads, manage staffing plans, and coordinate cross-training to optimize labor utilization.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective action where necessary to reinforce performance expectations.
- Lead daily production meetings and ensure clear communication of goals, metrics, and priorities.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Ensure all personnel follow OSHA standards, company safety protocols, and PPE requirements.
- Partner with Quality teams to ensure adherence to specifications, inspection procedures, and testing requirements.
- Implement corrective actions to address defects, rework, or process deviations.
- Enforce disciplined adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Production Planning & Performance Management
- Review project schedules and translate them into weekly and daily production plans.
- Track and report production KPIs including output, cycle times, labor utilization, and scrap/rework rates.
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or quality gaps and implement process improvements.
- Oversee raw material and supply consumption to ensure readiness for scheduled work.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on flow efficiency, defect reduction, and capacity optimization.
- Partner with Engineering and Plant Leadership to develop improved production methods and processes.
- Maintain organized, clean, and lean production areas through 5S and workplace organization initiatives.
- Champion technological advancements and new production methodologies where applicable.

Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production leadership roles.
- Experience supervising production teams in industrial, fabrication, or construction manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated success improving production performance and driving operational outcomes.
- Experience implementing or supporting quality control programs and production standards.
- Proven ability to operate within fast-paced, schedule-driven environments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in precast concrete, GFRC, UHPC, or façade manufacturing environments.
- Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
- Experience working with digital manufacturing systems or production tracking tools.
- Technical training or certifications related to manufacturing leadership.
