We offer end-to-end solutions—from design and installation to ongoing maintenance and emergency support—helping clients maximize building performance, energy efficiency, and equipment lifespan.Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, spool sheets, P&IDs, and job specificationsPlan installation sequencing and coordinate work to avoid conflicts with other tradesSelect appropriate pipe materials and sizes based on project requirementsMeasure, cut, thread, groove, bend, and assemble piping using hand and power toolsLayout and install piping systems including carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, and other materialsFit, align, and secure piping systems prior to welding or mechanical joiningJoin piping using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, cemented, or welded methodsInstall pipe supports including hangers, brackets, clamps, and restraints in accordance with codeAssist welders with pipe preparation, alignment, and fit-upInstall and maintain mechanical systems such as pumps, compressors, meters, and controlsPerform hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak testing using appropriate diagnostic equipmentInspect worksites to identify obstructions and verify structural integrityEnsure all work meets applicable codes, standards, and project specificationsMaintain tools and equipment in safe and working conditionFollow OSHA regulations and company safety protocols at all times, including PPE usageCommunicate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, and other tradesQualifications3+ years of experience as a pipefitter in commercial or industrial mechanical constructionCompletion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent hands-on experience preferredProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and P&IDsStrong skills in measuring, cutting, fitting, and assembling various piping systemsExperience working with HVAC, hydronic, refrigeration, and/or process piping systemsKnowledge of piping codes, installation standards, and OSHA safety practicesAbility to perform basic math calculations and layout work accuratelyComfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and lifting 50+ poundsValid driver’s license requiredBenefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off and holiday pay.Opportunities for professional development and certification assistance.Equal Employment Opportunity:Upchurch Companies provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.
