Entry-Level Customs Entry Writer
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused entry-level Customs Entry Writer to join our team. This role is ideal for candidates with at least 1 year of customs entry writing experience or those with freight forwarding experience looking to transition into a customs brokerage environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and file customs entries for import/export shipments
- Process documentation through CargoWise and obtain Customs and PGA (e.g., FDA, DOT, USDA) releases
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and other government agencies
- Monitor and respond to Customs rejections, requests for information, and client correspondence
- Maintain accurate records and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-level customer service
- Track shipments and verify documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of customs brokerage experience or 3+ years of freight forwarding experience
- Stable work history with demonstrated career longevity
- Experience with CargoWise is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Incoterms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and U.S. Customs regulations
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and data entry skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in PC systems and email/phone communication
- Knowledge of domestic and international geography (ports, countries, major cities) preferred
- Authorized to work in the United States
