Order Picker / Packer (Order Selector)
This role plays a critical part in daily warehouse operations by accurately picking, packing, and handling materials in an organized and efficient manner. You will receive, store, and maintain products while working in a refrigerated environment and supporting production needs. The position requires strong physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced setting while consistently following safety and food handling guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Use the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to manage inventory and ensure accurate, real-time tracking and visibility of products.
- Pick and pack products accurately to build customer and production orders according to specifications.
- Collaborate closely with packaging and production teams to supply materials needed for ongoing production runs.
- Receive, store, and organize materials and products in designated warehouse locations.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts of inventory using mobile RF scan devices to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Document and report any discrepancies found within the inventory system and escalate issues as needed.
- Use RF scan guns to locate, verify, and update product information during picking, packing, and inventory activities.
- Apply labels and ensure products are properly marked and prepared for shipment or production use.
- Perform general labor tasks within the warehouse as required to support overall operations.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in compliance with food manufacturing and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment while meeting productivity and accuracy targets.
Essential Skills
- Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) for inventory management.
- Proficiency with RF scanners and mobile scan devices for picking, packing, and cycle counting.
- Ability to use computers to access and update WMS and inventory records.
- Demonstrated experience in order picking, packing, and building orders accurately.
- Experience in warehouse production or warehouse inventory operations.
- Capability to perform general labor tasks in a warehouse setting.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and move products throughout a full shift.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and organization.
- Comfort working in a refrigerated environment at approximately 40 degrees for the entire shift.
- Strong attention to detail for labeling, documentation, and discrepancy reporting.

- Prior experience in a food manufacturing or food warehouse environment.

Work Environment
This position is on the first shift, typically running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will work in a refrigerated warehouse environment maintained at approximately 40 degrees throughout the day, so you should be comfortable working in cooler temperatures. The facility operates as a food manufacturing site and follows strict Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines, including specific dress and appearance requirements such as no jewelry and no make-up while on the production floor. The role involves regular use of Warehouse Management Systems, computers, and RF scan guns, and requires standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for most of the shift in a structured, safety-focused environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
