Shipping Leader Description: The qualified Shipping Leader will preferably possess have a high school diploma or equivalent and is a working leader responsible for overseeing and executing all aspects of the shipping process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of customer orders. This role serves as the primary point of contact (POC) for shipping-related requests and meetings, while leading a small team to meet daily shipping goals. The Shipping Leader will manage customer-specific shipping requirements, coordinate pickups, and maintain compliance with carrier and customer guidelines. A qualified candidate will also prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards:
- Serve as the point of contact for all shipping-related requests and meetings.
- Manage and execute customer shipping processes in alignment with customer-specific requirements and timelines.
- Perform end-of-day tasks including manifesting all orders, closing out small parcel shipments, and filing shipping documents.
- Train and develop shipping team members to ensure consistent performance and adherence to processes.
- Operate as a working lead, performing all responsibilities of a shipping clerk alongside leadership duties to include delegating tasks, setting daily goals, and monitoring progress
- Consolidate and stage orders efficiently for shipment.
- Manage Masterload orders, when applicable, to streamline freight processing.
- Process small parcel shipments using the LMS (Logistics Management System).
- Manage shipments through customer portals and websites, ensuring accurate entry and tracking.
- Schedule shipment pickups with carriers such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, and freight/specialty carriers.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks as needed to support outbound operations.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
Shipping Leader Requirements: The Shipping Leader should preferably possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have a valid driver’s license. The Shipping Leader should preferably possess 2-3 years of experience using all computer functions necessary to perform shipping duties with a warehouse environment. This includes standing continuously, lifting up to 75lbs unassisted and repetitive use of hands/manual dexterity. The Shipping Leader should possess the ability communicate effectively with co-workers, organize and prioritize job tasks to aid in satisfying customer requirements. The ideal candidate must also possess the ability to work overtime as needed.
