Job Responsibilities:- Work collaboratively with law enforcement and emergency medical services.
- Assist individuals and families in identifying and implementing strategies to de-escalate a current behavioral health crisis.
- Develop treatment plan in partnership with the client and other staff to introduce new services and resources to the individual and family.
- Be primarily responsible for connecting the individual and family to community resources, benefits, and clinical services.
- Work as part of a team with other crisis team staff to provide coordinated services.
Job Details: The On-call Mobile Crisis Responder and their assigned partner are dispatched by phone at the request of a local public safety agency, typically from their home and in their personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided.) Targeted response time to a scene is typically within 30-40 minutes, depending on geographic location. Responders work directly with clients on-scene during emergency or urgent events, in the client's home or in a community setting. During a shift providers may be asked to complete follow-up phone calls/next day support for previously served clients.
- Weeknight shifts: 6pm-8am (14 hours)
- Weekend & Holiday shifts: 8am-8pm (24 hours)
- Flat shift stipend plus hourly wage, mileage reimbursement, shift and bilingual differentials available.
- Minimum 4 shifts per month. Team trainings, monthly staff meeting and supervision requirements.
- A minimum of one year's experience in providing crisis and/or behavioral health intervention services in the following settings: community outreach, public safety, mental health or substance use treatment agency, assertive community treatment, emergency department, or other services providing response in emergent or urgent situations.
- Minimum twenty (20) hours of training in appropriate crisis intervention strategies within the first 90 days of employment. Subject to background screenings, must maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
Qualifications:QualificationsEducation and Experience:- Minimum Education Criteria: High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with the target population.
- Experience: Dependent on type of education, as determined by hiring manager.
Knowledge and Skills:Demonstrated success in the following areas:
- Ability to manage time to meet all deadlines.
- Ability to recognize and identify symptoms of mental illness and suicide and risk potential and respond appropriately.
- Good verbal and written skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) differential is available.
