Overview Larimer County is seeking a hardworking and motivated Equipment Maintenance Technician to become a key part of our Fleet team at the Larimer County Landfill!
This is an excellent position for an experienced mechanic who enjoys working on a variety of fleet. In this role, you will be assigned repairs, inspections, and maintenance of light, medium and heavy fleet vehicles and equipment.
The typical schedule is 7:30-4-:00 Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities Specifically, this position:
- Works safely in all weather conditions.
- Performing high-quality PM and DOT inspections
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment, semi tractors, walking floor trailers, support, and maintenance equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance services on all equipment.
- Strictly adhere to established safety guidelines and protocols.

- Proven ability to service, diagnose, and repair charging and electrical systems, brake systems, transmissions, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies, etc., on heavy equipment, semi tractors, walking floor trailers, and landfill support equipment.
- Ability to use computer equipment for diagnosis and repairs, work order system, emails, etc.
- Team player with good communication skills, able to work collaboratively.
- Able to keep a clean, organized work area.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Welding abilities (Structural welding abilities not necessary).
Qualifications All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities or certification in auto or diesel technology from an accredited program.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire required.
- Possession of, and ability to maintain, a Class "B" CDL at the discretion of the Fleet Director, depending upon necessity and position, required.
