What You Will Do- Assist with all aspects of lab work sent to external laboratories from all SDM dental clinics and faculty practice.
- Support inventory management, ordering, receiving, account maintenance, invoicing, and prompt payment processing for lab cases and select lab materials used in the Alton clinics.
- Assist with stocking and cleaning student and professional laboratories.
- Provide support to faculty, residents, and students across multiple SDM locations.
- Perform classic dental assisting duties, record keeping, telephone coordination, and dental lab casework coordination.
- Complete additional duties as assigned to support clinic and laboratory operations.
FLSA: Non-exempt
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications- Two years (24 months) of work experience in dental assisting comparable to that performed at the Dental Assistant II level of this series, including experience in four-handed dentistry.
- Current Certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) by the Dental Assisting National Board, if required by the employing institution.
Preferred
This person must have experience in all phases of general dentistry and be able to assist students/residents in the performance of them. This person needs to possess the ability to organize and perform multiple tasks independently, understand and manage the entire process of dental lab casework, including case assignment, turn-around times, delivery methods, and monetary limits of each laboratory contract. This person must demonstrate the ability to work with faculty, residents, fellows, students, co-workers/staff. This person must have excellent computer skills in order to work with the advanced level of clinical management software, complete lab transactions, enter information into the electronic health record, order and maintain supply inventories, communicate and use spreadsheets. This person must be flexible and adaptable to multiple work environments and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in order to positively resolve conflicts with laboratories. A high degree of manual dexterity (both gross and fine manipulation) is required for this role.
