Qualifications
We are currently seeking a Highway Engineering Associate II for the Timonium office.

The Highway Engineering Associate II candidate will be responsible for roadway/highway analysis and design, plans production, specifications, reports, and estimates efforts on conventional and design-build projects for MDOT SHA, county and municipal clients. Opportunity to work on projects within Maryland and across the country.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university program or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering design, systems, calculations, along with the application of engineering methods;
• Experience in highway design and plan production with the ability to perform planning, conceptual design, preliminary engineering, and final design activities;
• Experience with Bicycle and Pedestrian Facility Design;
• Experience with various planning studies, such as transportation purpose and need assessments, multi-modal evaluations, logical termini/independent utility analyses, engineering feasibility and transportation planning studies, alternatives analyses, as well as all stages of project planning to obtain NEPA/MEPA approval;
• Experience or interest in ITS Planning and Design, safety and mobility studies, Signing and Pavement Markings Design, Lighting Analysis and Design, and Traffic Signal Design.
• Coordinated Traffic Signal Timing Development and Implementation
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices;
• Experience with MicroStation, InRoads, and/or Open Roads Designer;
• Experience with preparing quantities, cost estimates, plan sheets, specifications, and reports for milestone submittals;
• Experience working with multi-discipline teams;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and overall quality control and management; and;
• Conscientious of project schedules and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Thorough knowledge of Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), local municipality, and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) policies and procedures;
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, and/or Open Roads Designer;
• Working knowledge of 3D workspaces/corridor modeling
• Experience working on General Engineering Consultant and Design-Build contracts
• EIT certification
• PE certification preferred but not required
Hiring Salary Range: ($80,983 - $125,571) - for this location. The final agreed upon compensation is commensurate with experience relative to the position and/or primary work location.
