Job Description:- SECTION 1: JOB SUMMARY
- This role serves as a driver of Manufacturing Innovations in Joints Supply Chain manufacture site. The role is part of the Suzhou Manufacturing Innovation (MI) organization and will be reporting to the Manufacturing Innovation Customer Manager. This position demands a hands-on approach with a significant presence on site, ensuring active engagement and alignment with customer operations and internal innovation initiatives.
- SECTION 2: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
- Customer Engagement - Communicate closely with site leadership and operations to understand their frustrations and opportunities. Monitor and analyze manufacturing value streams and translate site needs into focused engineering tasks and technical pilots that deliver measurable improvements.
- Manufacturing Solution Design and Delivery - Identify practical technical opportunities and develop detailed engineering solutions, prototypes, and pilot plans. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure solutions are realistic, scalable, and aligned with site priorities.
- Best Value for Money - Support development of fully scoped, costed, and scheduled technical proposals that underpin business cases. Contribute to ROI analysis, evaluate internal and external funding options (including government grants and tax incentives), and help balance technical risk with speed of delivery from TRL 1 to TRL 9.
- Process Roadmap Ownership - Take ownership for delivering parts of the process innovation roadmap by executing and delivering engineering activities that align with site KPIs.
- Programme Delivery - Lead realization within programmes from inception through commissioning and handover. Ensure engineering deliverables meet schedule, budget, and risk-exposure expectations while driving the intended operational benefits.
- Involvement and collaboration - Collaborate across functions (Production, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Supply Chain) to provide balanced technical assessments and ensure customer requirements are met. Actively contribute to site and platform initiatives (e.g., JJPS, JJOS) and represent engineering perspectives in multi-disciplinary forums.
- Manufacturing Accountability - Supervise and coach technical staff during installation, commissioning, and process changes, and coordinate with global teams for consistent deployment of upgrades and modifications.
- Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to next management level
- Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
- For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable

- SECTION 3: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Degree in Chemical, Material, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Bachelors' Degree is must, Post Graduate Degree is preferred.
- 5 years working experience is must, 7 - 10 years is preferred.
- Fluent Oral/Written English is must, Excellent English Speaker/Writer is preferred
- Internal/External auditor experience is preferred
- SECTION 4: REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
- Strong experience in manufacturing/process improvement, and project delivery.
- Experience with project management and engineering validation (FMEA, FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, CSV, as applicable).
- Knowledge of project finance control, such as cost estimating, ROI analysis, and business case setup.
- Lean / Six Sigma familiarity (Green/Black Belt or equivalent experience preferred). Experience in data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
