JobSummary:
The Field Technician supports activities related to inspection,maintenance and repair of utility poles. The Field Technician supports the activities of Utility Pole Inspectorsand Maintenance personnel.
JobDuties and Responsibilities:
Anentry level Field Technician may perform one or more of the following tasks:
Marking utility poles with Identification Tags;
Dig holes around poles for inspection or treatment;
Use drills, tensioners, and crimpers;
Check for insect/termite damage;
Assist in installing steel trusses or replacing poles;
Maintain clean job sites.
Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
• High School Diploma or the equivalent required;
• Associates' Degree or Technical TrainingCertificate or equivalent in project management, construction management,construction, electrical, drafting, business, military training or relatedfield preferred.
WorkingConditions:
• Work is primarily conducted at ProjectConstruction Sites within Utility Company service area (may require occasionaltravel to other services areas). Thismight include electric Substations, Transmission, Distribution lines or other residentialarea outdoor utility assets.
• Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel.
• Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection.
• May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes.
Physical Requirements (With orwithout Reasonable Accommodation):
• Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20)pounds;
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing orother communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation,which permits employee to communicate effectively;
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of timewith or without reasonable accommodation;
• Sufficient vision or other powers ofobservation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;
• Sufficient manual dexterity with or withoutreasonable accommodation, which permit the employee to perform routine officeduties;
• Sufficient personal mobility and physicalreflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-sitelocations;
• Must be able to work in outdoor conditions (includingelevated heat and cold conditions).
