POSITION SUMMARYFahrner Asphalt Sealers recognizes the importance of safety and health for the well-being of employees, protection of equipment and property, and overall productivity on the job. At Fahrner "we own safety". Safety is everyone's responsibility and must be a priority every day.
The Safety Director job includes producing and coordinating health and safety programs which ensures a safe workplace and promotes health and safety awareness throughout the workforce. The individual in this position must understand and be able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Safety Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Promote health and safety goals and objectives with divisions and employees.
- Maintain a continuously positive safety influence by recognizing employees who exhibit safe behaviors.
- Ensure that employee safety concerns are appropriately addressed through conclusion.
- Assist in performing incident investigations, root cause analysis, and incident reviews.
- Develop and present health and safety related topics in safety meetings, new hire training, and refresher training.
- Demonstrate safe behaviors and coach others to improve overall safety performance.
- Evaluate hazardous conditions and practices to develop controls or mitigations as needed.
- Assist with emergency response planning and training.
- Maintain knowledge of latest OSHA and other pertinent regulatory rules through ongoing training and seminars.
- Develop, review, and update safety programs and policies.
- Monitor any worker compensation claims associated with assigned projects.
- Work with Safety team and managers to inspect equipment and machinery to observe and correct any unsafe conditions.
- Prepare and conduct training sessions for all employees.
- Conduct safety meetings, field audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action and implement safe practices.
This is a full-time position located in Eau Claire or Plover, Wisconsin. Travel is required.

Position Requirements: - Associate or Bachelor Degree in Health Safety field or equivalent combination of experience and training preferred
- Previous employment in the Construction industry preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
