Job Purpose:Resolves claims by investigating losses; negotiating out-of-court settlements; presenting evidence in legal proceedings.Duties: Determines insurance coverage by examining claim forms, policies, and other records; interviewing claimant and witnesses; consulting police and hospital records; inspecting property damage. Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. Resolves questionable claims by investigating claim; comparing claim information with evidence. Settles claims by determining insurance carrier's liability; reaching agreement with claimant according to policy provisions. Recommends litigation by analyzing negotiated settlement options; evaluating evidence. Presents evidence at legal proceedings by testifying and producing reports and other documents as evidence. Maintains insurance product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
