ResponsibilitiesThe Survey Project Manager is responsible for leading land surveying projects from initiation through completion, with a strong emphasis on power, electric, transmission, and utility infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all deliverables meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, company quality standards, and financial objectives.
Acting as the primary liaison between SAM and its clients, the Survey Project Manager oversees both field and office teams, supports business development efforts within the utility and energy markets, and contributes to staff growth and development.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead power, electric, transmission, and utility survey projects from planning through final deliveryManage project scopes, budgets, schedules, contracts, billing, and financial performanceSupervise and coordinate field and office teams, resources, and work plans for utility-focused projectsProvide technical oversight and sign/seal survey deliverables, including plats, easements, exhibits, and ROW documents, as requiredEnsure compliance with utility standards, safety requirements, regulatory guidelines, and company quality standardsServe as the primary client contact for electric utilities, power providers, engineers, and contractorsSupport business development efforts and growth of power and transmission survey servicesMentor and develop staff and represent SAM at client meetings and industry events
Qualifications- Previous industry-related experience in a professional or project management capacity, with a strong preference for power, electric, transmission, or utility infrastructure projects
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Engineering, Geomatics, or a related discipline and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale or multi-phase survey projects, particularly utility or energy-related work
- Strong proficiency with or working knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, GeoPak, and MS Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly define assignments and deliverables
- Proven ability to oversee, mentor, and motivate field and office project teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in fast-paced project environments
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines while maintaining collaboration and teamwork
- Professional Surveyor (PS/PLS) license preferred
