North of town, Brookgreen Gardens has a zoo, a collection of world class outdoor sculptures, elaborate gardens, and hosts a variety of cultural events throughout the year. Across the street, Huntington Beach State Park is home to a large campground, Atalaya, a Moorish-style castle, walking trails, wetlands and a beach with lifeguards during the summer season.
