OverviewThe
AI Engineer will support the International Trade Administration (ITA) AI Center of Excellence (AI-CoE) by delivering end-to-end artificial intelligence solutions across the full system lifecycle. This role focuses on model development, data handling, deployment, optimization, and integration of AI capabilities within secure, cloud-based federal IT environments.
*This position is contingent upon contract award.*Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and deploy AI and machine learning models.
- Manage data ingestion, preprocessing, validation, and feature engineering.
- Build, deploy, and maintain AI infrastructure and pipelines.
- Optimize model performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Automate workflows and integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems.
- Monitor models in production and implement continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and data teams in SAFe Agile environments.
- Ensure solutions align with federal security, compliance, and governance requirements.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- U.S. Citizenship (required). Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI or higher background investigation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years experience
- Experience across the AI system lifecycle including development and deployment.
- Proficiency with machine learning frameworks and programming languages.
- Experience working in Agile or SAFe delivery environments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a technical field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
- Experience supporting federal or public-sector IT programs.
- Knowledge of AI governance, ethics, and security best practices.
Work Location: Remote preferred with occasional on-site support in Washington, DC, as required.
