This individual will be responsible for championing best practices in software engineering across our organization. This role is essential for driving continuous improvement in our development processes, enhancing team skills, and ensuring that our engineering standards align with industry-leading practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong process redesign background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for fostering a culture of excellence in software engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
- Best Practices Development: Define, implement, and promote best practices and standards in software engineering
- Process Optimization: Evaluate and enhance existing software engineering processes to maximize productivity, minimize waste, and streamline workflows. Partner with key stakeholders internally to ensure smooth functioning of outsourced resource management processes for MedTech Digital
- Training & Mentorship: Develop and lead training programs, workshops, and mentoring sessions aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of engineering teams.
- Quality Assurance / Performance Management: Shape, track, manage the top level critical metrics (Key Performance Indicators) and goals and achievements (Objectives Key Results) to drive performance across the organization and lead initiatives to continuously improve product quality and development efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Quality Assurance, and Operations, to ensure that engineering practices support business objectives.
- Vendor contract management - work closely with vendors on staff augmentation and ensure performance is monitored against contracts. Build and run mechanisms to ensure high performing talent provided by the vendors
- Innovation & Tools: Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and tools, advocating for the adoption of modern technologies and practices that drive engineering excellence. Implement process and systems for effective time tracking on software development to ensure financials are recorded appropriately.
- Feedback Loop: Create a system for gathering feedback on engineering processes and practices, actively listening to team members to foster a culture of open communication and improvement.
- Global Project Management: Own and lead project management on operations & data related projects
- Manage the coordination and logistics for upskilling and driving Digital awareness and knowledge across J&J MedTech.
- Define, build and implement key operating mechanisms that's needed for operations of MedTech Digital organization.
- Represent the global JJMTD team as required.
- Operations support across JJMTD.
QualificationsRequired:- Minimum Bachelor's degree (Software Engineering, Biotechnology or other related subject area).
- 10+ years of experience in the software industry.
- 8+ years of experience in leadership roles managing both employees and contractors.
- Experience in leading software solutions delivery with internal and outsourced resources.
- Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and presentation abilities, with comfort presenting to all management levels within an organization.
- Significant experience developing, tracking, and managing key metrics to deliver business and financial targets.
- Experience working in and successfully navigating complex and matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical team members.
- Strategic attitude with ability to execute/implement tactical details.
Preferred: - Advanced Degree.
- Six Sigma Process Excellence certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- People development and management.
Other:- This role will be based out of Santa Clara, CA. and may require up to 20% travel (International and Domestic)

- The anticipated base pay for this role is $137,000 to $235,750
- If based out of the Bay Area, CA. the anticipated base pay is $157,000 to $271,400
