ABOUT
As a Digital Product Design Intern, you will support the design and development of digital experiences across Polaris products. This includes in-vehicle displays, companion mobile applications, and web experiences. You will work closely with product designers, engineers, researchers, and product owners. The role involves participation in user testing and rider research to help ensure our digital products are intuitive, usable, and built for real riders in real environments.
This internship is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in end-to-end digital product design, from early concepts and wireframes through testing, iteration, and handoff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the design of vehicle display interfaces, including infotainment, controls, and system UI.
• Opportunities to assist with design work for mobile apps and web experiences that complement vehicle systems.
• Create wireframes, user flows, interaction concepts, and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Help maintain and apply design systems, components, and UI standards.
• Prepare design assets, specs, and documentation for engineering handoff.
• Participate and organize usability tests, user interviews, and rider testing research events.
• Assist with research synthesis, insights, and design recommendations.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and researchers in design reviews and critiques.
• Iterate on designs based on feedback, testing results, and technical constraints.
• Support general design tasks like: asset creation, file organization, and design updates.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:
• Currently pursuing a BS/BA in Digital Product Design, UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, HCI, or a related field.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Understanding of UX principles, usability, and interaction design.
• Strong visual design sensibility with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly through sketches, wireframes, and prototypes.
• Interest in user-centered design and research-driven decision making.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience with user testing and feedback preferred.
• Powersports, automotive, or outdoor recreation interest is a plus, but not required.
PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENT:
• A portfolio is required as part of the application.
• Portfolio may include school projects, personal projects, or internship work.
• Should demonstrate:
o UX and UI thinking, not just final visuals
o Examples of wireframes, user flows, interaction design, or prototypes
o Ability to explain design decisions and problem-solving approach
• Case studies do not need to be polished or production-ready, clarity of thinking matters more than perfection.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Team-based, collaborative, fast-paced office or studio environment.
• Combination of desk work and occasional participation in user or rider testing sessions.
• May involve observing or participating in vehicle or field testing environments.
The salary range for this position is $19.50 to $30.75 per hour. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
