Senior ConstructionManager to work in a technical support role with highly skilledprofessionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join agrowing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for adiverse range of clients. This is a
temporary, on-call position located in our
Midlothian, VA office or virtually.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Thesuccessful candidate will:- Accountable for a safe workingenvironment, employment of safe work practices, and cultivation and acceptanceof the corporate/client safety culture
- Ensurethat safety is our first priority and integrated into all phases of work
- Ensurethat project team has adequate safety resources (knowledge and equipment)
- Communicate Client safety expectations and requirements to project team
- Advisethe team regarding Client needs, regulatory requirements, quality and riskmanagement and identification
- Actively manage work to deliver project consistent withClient expectations and meets or exceeds project budgeted financial performance
- Provide input and directions regarding daily decisionsrelated to safety, Site conditions, construction activities, materials,subcontractor issues, schedule, and staff-specific issues as necessary
- Engage and consult with the Engineer of Record (internalor external) regarding design changes, constructability issues, Request forInformation (RFI) tracking and responses, submittal
- Engage and consult with Management regarding projectmatters as necessary
- Procurement
- InitiateRequisitions for purchases
- Negotiateterms and conditions with vendors and ensure Prime Agreement flow downs areincorporated within the accepted terms and conditions
- Align with project teamon producing project documents with clear and concise scopes-of-work Composeand manage subcontract agreements
- Issuechange orders as applicable
- Review vendor invoices, ensure valuation matches purchase,deliverables are acceptable, and agreed terms have been met
- Manage Project Financials
- Accountablefor financial performance of the project
- Communicateto Client leader and operations manager cost margin, and if appropriate suggestand implement agreed to adjustments to improve margin
- Report Earned Value Managementmetrics including Estimate at Completion (EAC), Cost to Complete, CostPerformance Index, and Schedule Performance Index
- Performanalysis of calculated EAC against schedule for comparison check
- Adjust EAC as necessary and document the forecast
- Produce and submit timely, accurate, and contractuallycompliant Client invoices
- Manage Project Schedule
- Updateproposal schedule and produce baseline
- Update project schedule weekly based upon previous weekperformance
- Utilizehistorical schedule versions for earned value and risk management analysis
- ManageField Activities
- Review/adviseon daily Plan of Day (POD)
- Check in as necessary with Site Construction Managerthroughout each day to discuss the POD and daily progress
- Prioritize communication and management of field issuesover administrative tasks
- Provideconsultation or direction as necessary
- Communicatewith Subcontractor project manager as necessary
- ReviewDaily Field Report (DFR)
- Provide Construction Manager with comments if applicable
- Utilize DFR information for Client compilation report
- Compileand distribute Client progress report with financial update on weekly basis, orat appropriate intervals in alignment with work progress
- Lead Weekly ProjectStatus Conference
- Composeand update weekly agenda
- Proctormeeting promoting positive and efficient communication
- Review,edit, and approve minutes for publication
- Followup on action items as necessary
- Participate in weekly Engineering Conference
- EnsureEngineering Team is aware of project issues
- Engagewith Engineering Team to track and resolve issues
- Ensurequality assurance checks are being performed and documented
- Lead, advance, and manage change conditionevents
- Assemble appropriate stakeholders to participate inmanagement plan development
- Assign action items and track progress
- Lead development of management plan deliverables
- Perform final assembly and distribution of plandeliverables
- Perform subcontract administrative duties
- Track subcontractor progress
- Ensuresubcontractor compliance with project specifications through appropriate fieldtests and observations
- Engagewith subcontractor to resolve issues (constructability, schedule, etc.)
- Advisesubcontractor regarding future work planning
- Manage, resolve, and/or elevate subcontractor claims inaccordance with agreement terms and in best manner possible for favorableClient outcome
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE- Bachelor'sdegree in one or more of the following: Engineering, Geology, Physical Science,or Construction Management
- 40-Hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and EmergencyResponse Training (29 CFR 1910120)
- 10+ years of work experience in Engineering, Construction,and Project Management
- Demonstrated experience working with complex constructionprojects
- Working knowledge of project financial tracking andreporting
- Workingknowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and requirements
- Literacyin common computer software including MS Project or Primavera, MS Word, MSExcel, Adobe Acrobat, and Blue Beam
