Overview
Supports Humanscale products that are in production. Maintains technical drawings, develops cost improvements, and provides technical support for personnel at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage engineering changes for new and existing products; communicate changes to all levels of manufacturing teams as well as suppliers accordingly
- Ensure the manufacturability of new and existing products by participating in the product design and stage gate development process in the early stages of product development
- Identify and implement programs to improve the manufacturability and reliability of products
- Support production lines to minimize or eliminate downtime
- Provide support for the maintenance of items and Bills of Material (BOM) in MRP system.
- Create and review assembly drawings for existing and new products
- Determine parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications
- Prepare and maintain parts guide for your product line to provide technical support for customers, sales, customer service and Humanscale field technicians for new and existing products
- Identify opportunities for cost reductions and coordinate initiatives to achieve savings in a timely manner
- Plan and accomplish projects & goals on time and within budget
- Support the installation, qualification, verification, and validation of new and existing equipment and processes
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding technical specifications and alternatives, including the procurement of material and components
- Generate specification control drawings as a means of communication with vendors and suppliers
- Resolve technical, procedural and logistical problems in manufacturing by using proper troubleshooting and failure analysis techniques
- Design customized prototypes and final functional units to satisfy customer Special Order Requests (SOR)
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Internship experience working in an Engineering capacity at a manufacturing facility
- Knowledge of engineering principles, practices and techniques commonly employed in the design and production of products
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-engineers
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts, techniques and tools
- Understanding of and experience working with machines & mechanical systems
- Must be able to work in a team environment, helping others when necessary
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Must be able to do repetitive bending and stretching
- Ability to lift 60 pounds
- Ability to be onsite 5 days a week
- Ability to move about the Production floor frequently and occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to use hands to operate tools, install, adjust and attach parts
- Visual acuity for tasks that require attention to detail, such as operating machinery or performing quality control
COMPUTER SKILLS - Good understanding of GD&T for assembly and part drawings
- Experience in using 3D CAD modeling software (i.e., Solidworks)
- Experience with MRP systems such as INFOR is preferred
- Strong MSOffice and other computer skills
