ResponsibilitiesThis role is responsible for leading comprehensive utility coordination across all phases of a transportation project-from early concept development through preliminary design, final design, and construction. The consultant serves as the primary liaison between the department, utility owners/operators, and local governments, identifying utility impacts, coordinating design and relocation efforts, resolving property and cost issues, and ensuring compliance with public interest, permitting, and scheduling requirements. The position requires developing detailed utility reports, cost estimates, impact analyses, and status updates, as well as reviewing and approving utility relocation plans, managing CADD utility files, and supporting constructability and QA/QC efforts to minimize risk and delays throughout project delivery.
- Work with project managers, engineers, and technicians to provide assistance, technical support, and coordination for utility adjustments to resolve design conflicts with utilities impacted by transportation projects associated with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and local agencies.
- Projects include utility coordination associated with preconstruction and construction phase of maintenance, rehabilitation, improvements and reconstruction of active transportation projects.
- Receive and review utility relocation plans to ensure that such materials are constructible, do not pose conflicts with other utility relocations, accommodate the project and adhere to GDOT requirements.
- Responsible for the utility coordination for transportation projects in accordance to GDOT and local agency Utility Accommodation Standards Manual and Plan Development Process.
- Determination of utility conflict resolution using Subsurface Utility Engineering data and design plans.
- Preparation and submission of Utility Agreements.
- Schedule and conduct utility meetings.
- Prepare meeting minutes, reports and other documentation as needed to support utility coordination,
- Review and document the progress of the permitting and relocation efforts.

- Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the company's strategic goals.
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in related discipline/and or equivalent experience
- 1-3+ years of experience in preparing agreements for relocating utilities in accordance to local, state and federal utility accommodation processes and practices
- 1-3+ years of experience as a utility coordinator on state and local DOT projects or comparable experience working for utility companies
- Microstation/AutoCAD skills a plus
- Proficiency with Excel
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to manage project budgets
- Design Build experience a plus
- Must be able to demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills
- Understanding of safety protocols
