Job Summary
This is a post-doctoral position in the lab of Dr. Cassandra Gipson-Reichardt in the area of neurobiology of substance use. Projects include (but are not limited to) studying neurobehavioral mechanisms of xylazine and fentanyl co-use, nicotine use and neurobiology, and neuroinflammatory mechanisms underlying glutamate plasticity in nicotine addiction. Techniques include self-administration, confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, chemogenetics, whole cell electrophysiology, among others. Opportunities for collaborations with other faculty within and outside of UK are available (e.g., collaborations with obesity/diabetes researchers, clinical researchers in substance use, etc). Successful candidates will have opportunities to attend and present at scientific conferences, learn to write grants, manuscript preparation, project design, among other various areas of career development. Experience with rodent models of self-administration and whole cell electrophysiology is required.

There is a rich translational environment of substance use research at UK, and the successful candidate will have ample opportunities to collaborate with both clinical and preclinical researchers in the substance use research area.
