POSITION PURPOSEThe Carpenter is responsible for constructing wooden forms, frames, bulk heads, and block outs for the concrete casting beds.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Review plans and blueprints for daily woodwork.
- Create and assemble side rails, forms, bulk heads, and block outs for production beds.
- Assist fiber glass laminator, mold builder, and CNC operation when necessary.
- Build a wide range of wood forms and understand building techniques.
- Fabricate block outs and new window openings.
- Construct architectural molds.
- Determine design and drawing conflicts.
- Keep tools oiled and in good condition.
- Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
- Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY- No supervisory duties
- Might have an assistant
- Reports to Plant Production Supervisor
CHARACTERISTICS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)- Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/16
- Must be able to understand drawn formwork.
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Must be able to work on a team
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Able to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes
- Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors
EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Previous carpentry experience preferred
- Experience with bench saws, table saws, miter saws, nail and staple guns, drill presses, sharps, drills, power tools, planers, and routers preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE- Monday-Friday
- Schedule varies with workload and location
- Unscheduled overtime may be required depending on business needs
- Indoor and outdoor/sheltered and unsheltered
- Work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions
PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PPE) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires standing for long periods of time, frequent lifting (up to 50 pounds) and bending, repetitive motion with medium force, and an ability to climb up to 3 feet above the ground using stairs.
