Position SummaryThe Sonographer II independently performs diagnostic vascular ultrasound exams, assisting physicians and advanced practice providers by preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and producing high-quality images to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.Education RequirementsRequired: Graduate of an ARRT-approved or CAAHEP-recognized Sonography ProgramPreferred: Associate Degree or higher Experience RequirementsRequired: Minimum 1 year of vascular sonography experience Licensure & Certifications (Required)Active registration in one of the following:ARRT – Vascular Sonography (RT(S)(VS))ARDMS – RVT / RDMS (VT)CCI – Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)Current BLS certification (per Life Support Training Policy)Key ResponsibilitiesPerform independent vascular ultrasound exams following established protocolsObtain spectral Doppler waveforms and high-quality diagnostic imagesPrepare and educate patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and safetyAccurately document exams and transfer images using EMR, RIS, and PACSCollaborate with physicians and care teams to support timely diagnosisAdhere to Novant Health’s First Do No Harm safety behaviors and quality standardsSkills & QualificationsStrong knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathologyAbility to work independently in diagnostic settingsProficient with ultrasound equipment and basic computer systemsExcellent communication and patient care skillsAdaptable to patients of all ages and clinical conditions
