Summary of Job
The Virtual Operations Lead will maintain responsibility over all virtual operations tasks, including buying, planning, scheduling, admin support and reporting. The job will require heavy usage of SAP and flexibility to tackle many facets of a growth segment. The ideal candidate will have a breadth of SAP experience and the willingness to learn several different responsibilities. A team player who is willing to work with the team and do whatever it takes to accomplish the goals of this start up cold chain group.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
SAP Excellence - Office Admin
- Incumbent is primarily responsible for providing daily administrative support for Plant Operations. To do so effectively, the incumbent must be in tune with production objectives, reporting requirements, and other expectations. Must be both proactive and reactive, depending upon daily issues that arise. Support Operations by maintaining effective administrative systems and procedures, including correspondence, filing systems, monitoring inventories, e-mail and voice communications, workflow efficiencies, etc.
- Assure working knowledge of the SAP system, particularly as it relates to material transactions, scheduling, and planning. Maintain system updates as required for accurate production documentation and reporting.
- Gather, compile, and organize information and data to accurately complete required reports for Operations.
- Communicate effectively on daily basis with both internal and external stake holders.
- Administer other projects and assignments, as directed. Remain flexible about changes in workload and time commitments.
Plant Buyer and inventory management
- Display the ability to look at the supply chain from upstream to downstream, with both short and long term planning in mind, resulting in a positive influence to revenue at the plant level. This includes looking at current processes and determining methods for improvement with regard to cutting costs, controlling and replenishing inventory, and shipping products.
- Collaborate with quality, warehouse and other staff
- Monitor all open purchase orders
- Works with suppliers to guarantee committed dates and price reductions
- Maintains accurate inventory levels through a cycle count program
- Creates and updates BOM and routings for new or existing parts
Production Scheduling
- Leads the scheduling of production assets, including both primary and secondary converting assets, then coordinates with the Production Operations Manager.
- Review inventory stocking levels (MRP) and systems forecasts that support both customer demand as well as the inventory targets set by Pregis.
- Works within the team to ensure that there are plenty of RAW materials on hand at all times. Communicates and coordinates with production when issues arise.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive down production lead times, optimize production scheduling and eliminate production variances.

- SAP experience required. Preference for inventory management, production scheduling.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required. Major in Business or Logistics preferred
- 3-5 years of planning experience
- 2-3 years of experience in a logistics function preferred
- Knowledge of the protective packaging industry is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis and related tools (Excel expertise is a must); knowledge of SAP is beneficial
- Ability to manage projects or threads of projects and perform self-directed work.
- Effective problem-solving skills and various requirements gathering techniques.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Pregis's total compensation package. The hourly base pay range for this role is estimated to be $81K to $97K..
