ResponsibilitiesShawmut is expanding its Mission Critical business unit and seeking a highly skilled Superintendent - Mission Critical to lead field operations on large scale, technically complex data center projects. This role requires significant travel and can be based anywhere in the United States, as project work spans multiple regions and may require long term on site presence. The Superintendent provides on site leadership for fast track construction, driving safety, quality, schedule performance, and robust trade coordination on mission critical builds.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Leadership & Execution- Lead daily field operations on missioncritical data center projects valued between $25M and $100M.
- Supervise subcontractors, craft labor, and trade partners to ensure safe, highquality execution.
- Drive fasttrack project delivery while maintaining strict safety, quality, and schedule standards.
Technical & Operational Coordination- Apply strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems within missioncritical facilities.
- Coordinate daily work activities with master schedules, shortinterval lookaheads, and logistics plans.
- Manage site logistics, including material deliveries and OFCI/CFCI vendor integration.
Planning, Documentation & Compliance- Develop and maintain detailed field schedules to ensure proper sequencing of work.
- Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, safety logs, and quality records.
Team Leadership & Collaboration- Mentor and manage Assistant Superintendents to support their development and performance.
- Collaborate effectively with Project Managers, design teams, inspectors, vendors, and field staff.
- Build strong relationships across diverse teams while reinforcing accountability and results.
QualificationsExperience- 7+ years as a Superintendent in commercial, industrial, or missioncritical construction.
- Minimum 3+ years leading hyperscale and/or colocation data center projects.
- Proven success executing highly technical, fasttrack industrial projects.
Education- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
Technical & Leadership Skills- Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in missioncritical environments.
- Ability to lead and coordinate multiple trade partners effectively.
- Excellent planning, scheduling, communication, and teamleadership skills.
Travel Requirement- Must be willing and able to travel more than 50% of the time, including extended stays at project sites.
- Ability to relocate temporarily as needed based on project demands.
- Comfortable working in multiple regions across the United States.
