Position Summary:The Production Superintendent provides strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of all production related activities -including operations, compliance, routine, preventive, corrective, and project related work-at the East Chicago, IN facility. This role reports to the Facility Manager and is accountable for ensuring safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective operation of all plant assets.
The facility includes a wide range of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, motors), fixed equipment (vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, cooling towers), electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, buildings, grounds, and all supporting infrastructure for Air Separation and Liquid Hydrogen production units.
The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of independence, interface and communicates directly with Central Control Room, and collaborate effectively with engineering and subject-matter experts to drive operational excellence.
Essential Responsibilities:- Lead and coordinate daily activities for production technicians.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, and engineering standards, including PSM/RMP.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, implement corrective actions, and drive long-term reliability and efficiency.
- Manage process safety elements such as MOC, permit-to-work, critical drawings, and PSM documentation.
- Plan, prioritize, and schedule daily work to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
- Optimize operational practices through effective resource allocation, technician training, and high-quality work execution.
- Direct planned and unplanned plant shutdowns with operations, maintenance, and contractor teams.
- Manage the work backlog to ensure timely completion of maintenance and operational activities.
- Communicate daily with operations and facility leadership to align priorities and adapt to changing conditions.
- Provide troubleshooting support and coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and subject matter experts.
- On-call responsibility for after-hours operations support.
- Oversee contractor performance, cost control, and safe execution of all work.
- Deliver annual productivity and cost-improvement goals through process optimization and reliability initiatives.
- Utilize KPIs to drive continuous improvement across maintenance and operations.
Work Environment:This position includes office and field work. Candidates must be available outside normal working hours, able to travel up to 10% overnight, and capable of working in varying weather conditions. Physical requirements include climbing ladders, accessing elevated equipment, working on scaffolds or lifts, and entering confined spaces.

Minimum Qualifications:- Associate degree in Engineering with 5+ years of industrial operations experience OR 10+ years of hands-on process/operations experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or management experience leading operations personnel.
- Strong expertise in process operations, including operating plant systems and equipment and performing advanced troubleshooting.
- Experience managing turnarounds, work processes, and best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cost-driven environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, facilitation, influencing, and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization.
- Experience developing talent and fostering collaborative teams.
- Proficiency with computers and standard software (MS Office, email, CMMS).
- Experience managing environmental, safety, and health procedures.
Desired Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- Experience in chemical or air separation operations.
- Experience in contractor and supplier management.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements, industrial standards, and codes.
- Experience with CMMS platforms such as Infor EAM or ProCal.
- Experience utilizing advanced trending tools to troubleshoot operational processes.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification
