The Wire Foreman is responsible for overseeing all electrical and communication wiring associated with the installation of golf course irrigation systems. This role ensures that control wires, communication cables, and all low-voltage systems are installed accurately, safely, and according to project specifications. The Wire Foreman leads a wiring crew, coordinates with other construction teams, and ensures the irrigation system is fully functional and ready for operation.
Key Responsibilities - Install and manage all irrigation control wires, communication cables, grounding, and conduit.
- Read and interpret irrigation plans, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
- Perform accurate waterproof splicing, labeling, routing, and protection of all wires.
- Identify and record station numbering and decode coding numbers for accurate system mapping and controller setup.
- Lead and train a wiring crew while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety.
- Coordinate daily with project managers, pipe crews, and other construction teams.
- Test circuits for continuity, communication, grounding, and valve operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair wiring issues quickly and effectively.
- Document as-built wiring paths and system details for project turnover.
Work Environment: - Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, dig, and work on uneven ground for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in outdoor construction environments.
- Work will require extended hours, including Saturday.
- Collaboration with irrigation technicians, pipe crews, and project leadership.
What we look for:Required - Minimum 2-4 years of experience in irrigation wiring, electrical work, or related field.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage irrigation systems, 2 wire systems and conventional control wire systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Experience leading a crew or supervising field staff.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel to job sites throughout the United States.
Preferred - Experience with golf course irrigation installations (Rain Bird, Toro, or similar systems).
- Knowledge of trenching equipment, conduit installation, and wire-tracking tools.
- Basic understanding of pump stations, central control systems, and valve communication networks.
