The Starzl Transplantation Institute (STI) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate position.
Qualifications:
Individuals applying for this position must have an MD or PhD in immunology or a related field and have relevant training and/or post-doctoral experience in cellular immunology and molecular biology in murine models. Experience in basic bioinformatics would be highly valued. Individuals should have analytical and critical thinking skills and strong written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities:
The appointee will work closely with Dr. Rothstein and other members of his lab group. The appointee will also be expected to engage in active collaboration with other scientists within the STI and the Department of Immunology. The appointee will participate in work on NIH funded projects on novel aspects of B cell biology and regulatory B cells (Bregs) that include:
-The role of certain transcription factors in inducing TIM-1+ Bregs.
-The regulatory role of plasma cells vs. B cells
-The role of Bregs in control of the germinal center response.
The projects utilize various novel genetically modified strains of mice in autoimmune and allograft models and approaches include analysis of the transcriptome /chromatin accessibility of cells at population and single cell levels.
The appointee will also present findings at local, national, or international conferences, help prepare of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and write applicable postdoctoral fellowship grants, all with the assistance of Dr. Rothstein.
