Department Overview The Department of Urology at OHSU is committed to providing the highest quality, state-of-the-art care for adult and pediatric urology patients. Our physicians are recognized leaders in their fields, have advanced fellowship training in urological subspecialties, and are expert, high-volume surgeons. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
Function/Duties of Position Clinical: Practice will include Urologic Oncology patients. May include weekly time at Adventist Health Portland and/or Hillsboro Medical Center. Outstanding level of professional performance expected (e.g. quality of clinical care for clinical faculty). Professional performance is delivered in a manner that is compliant with the regulation and guidelines of all relevant regulating bodies (i.e. DNV, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, OHSU IRB, NIH and all other state, federal, and institutional regulatory guidelines.) Treats all patients, research subjects, trainees and co-workers with dignity and respect.
Academics: Teaches support staff in their area of professional expertise. Teaching is done through assigned lectures to be given during the course of the year and through teaching in the course of performing their own job by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, guiding learning through delegating graduated and focused levels of responsibility. Takes a leadership role in education, through the residency or graduate student selection process, evaluation committee, or education/curriculum committee. Must have a satisfactory record of accomplishment in teaching and be knowledgeable of and compliant with all applicable regulating bodies (e.g. ACGME competencies for clinical faculty, NIH guidelines for research faculty).
Research: May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding for the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases. May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair. Must have satisfactory record of accomplishments in scholarship and service.
Required Qualifications - Doctorate in medicine (MD) and fellowship training in Urologic Oncology; Board certified/board-eligible Urologist; Satisfactory record of accomplishment in ALL of the following categories: teaching, scholarship and service.
- Current license and certification with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, Drug Enforcement Association certification, and CPR/PALS certification required.
