NFPA is looking to add a Senior Electrical Content Specialist to the Engineering Technical Services team!
The Senior Electrical Content Specialist at NFPA serves a pivotal role in advancing our mission of safety through electrical expertise and collaboration. This position is responsible for developing accurate and relevant technical content that empowers NFPA's product, marketing, and communications teams to deliver impactful solutions and messaging to our global audience. By leveraging industry insights and expertise, the Senior Electrical Content Specialist ensures that NFPA's technical advancements align with evolving electrical practices, standards, and innovations. Through thoughtful guidance and review, this role is a primary contributor in the creation and quality assurance of NFPA's materials.
In addition, the Senior Electrical Content Specialist represents NFPA as a trusted expert in the industry, participating in in-person engagements and social channels sharing their experience and knowledge of design, installation, and safe operations of electrical systems. The Senior Electrical Content Specialist combines deep technical knowledge with product-focused support to deliver solutions that drive safety, innovation, and engagement across NFPA's global reach.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and complete the technical review of electrical training programs.
- Create content for various internal communication channels and product teams.
- Create YouTube videos and social posts covering various technical topics.
- Write explanatory content for NFPA LiNK®, handbooks, blogs and articles.
- Ideate and support the development of artwork, visual aids, and videos for expert commentary
- Respond to advisory questions that relate to multiple electrical topics through multiple media including phone, email, social media and other externally facing digital media.
- As a subject matter expert, answer inquiries, conduct research, and provide insights to committee and community members on Codes and Standards requirements. Interact with and respond to media inquiries as needed.
- Advise and act as a subject matter expert in the review and development of new and existing products, training materials, marketing materials and outreach efforts.
- Develop and/or revise training, presentations, or other documentation highlight code requirements, changes, and emerging technologies in support of regional teams.
- Deliver training, presentations and lead seminars on technical topics at industry events, to customers, Association members and other stakeholders.
- Serve as an Association spokesperson, attend stakeholder meetings, conferences and exhibitions and foster industry relationships to understand constituent's needs to aid in product development
- Teach NFPA seminars related to Electrical subject matters both in classroom and through distance learning.
- Provide input into budgeting activities.
- Computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
Requirements:
- Education: 7-10 years of experience as an electrician, electrical contractor, electrical inspector or electrical engineer/systems designer.
- Vocational/Technical Degree/Licensure or equivalent.
- Skilled in leveraging various digital tools and technologies to support communication, collaboration, and productivity in virtual and hybrid work environments.
- Licenses: professional certification or licensure in area of expertise (i.e., engineering, contractor's license) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the NEC®
- Fundamental knowledge and experience with the Electrical Cycle of Safety ™ (NFPA 70, 70E, and 70B) is required.
- An understanding of and desire to master non-traditional NEC topics is preferred.
- Background in instructing/mentoring demonstrates that you fully comprehend the electrical concepts from multiple stakeholder vantage points and shows proficiency in communicating them. (preferred)
- Understanding of the various roles in the electrical industry (electrician, electrical contractor, electrical inspector, electrical engineer, etc.) and how they interact in the commercial, industrial, and residential settings.
- Stays informed on new electrical technology with a goal for eventual topic mastery for relevant subjects.
- A true problem solver and skilled communicator
- Broad network of industry relationships that provide a deep understanding of the electrical industry from multiple stakeholders' perspectives.
- Experience with developing training materials and public speaking/training large groups.
- Well versed Social Media skills (Facebook/Instagram/LinkedIn/Twitter)
- ~25% travel required

Within the range, individual pay is determined by many factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training NFPA is proud to offer competitive compensation and comprehensive, best-in-class benefits. Pay Grade 209 - $98,750.00 - $133,301.00 - $167,853.00
