Cleveland-Cliffshas an immediate opportunity for aQualityEngineerat ourIndianaHarborfacility.TheQualityEngineeris responsible forsupportingthe daily quality activities,includinginspection, testing, ensuring quality system compliance,reducingwaste/non-conforming material,and metallurgical product improvementto make the highestquality steel. The ideal candidate willhave prior steel industry experiencein steel making, hot rolling,cold rolling,orcoating,beself-motivated,and thrive in a fast-paced work environment withcomplex operations.
Summary ofResponsibilities:
Comply withsafety, quality, and environmental standards
Work closely within multifunctional teamsto drive results andimprovequality metrics
Possess the ability to work effectively within a team environment,utilizingclear and effective communication skills
Utilize metallurgicalexpertiseto support product development, process optimization, and defect reduction initiativesthrough data analysis, problem solving,and knowledge of customer operations and markets
Provide technicalsupportfor internal and external customerissues
Meet with representatives ofcustomers/processorsto provide innovative solutions to quality and reliability issues,and providecustomers withtimelysolutions
Regularly communicates customer problems to management andtheworkforce
Maintainsquality design systemsandtrainscustomer account representativesonorder requirements and setup
Assistsinthedevelopment of corrective actions
Reviewthemill's quality performance andassistin continuous improvementactivities
Review anddispositionoff-chemistry slabs for prime order applications based on metallurgical compatibility and customer specifications
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineeringor Material Science or equivalent working experience.
Two(2) years'previousexperience in anindustrialor related environment.
Working knowledge of metallurgicalprinciplesand steel defect origins.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar withthe MicrosoftOffice programs (Word, Excel,PowerPointand Access).
Must be able to work in a hot, dusty environment.
Interpersonal skills and the ability tooperateeffectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge ofeither steelmaking, hot rolling,coldrollingor plate operations.
Demonstrated success in defining and resolving problems.
Stronganalyticalskills.
