Under the direction of the Chief of the Audit Services Branch (ASB), the Supervising Management Auditor (SMA), is responsible for the administration of the Regional Center and Vendor Audit Sections' audit programs. The SMA plans, organizes and directs the audit programs through subordinate managers and provides audit program guidance to the section supervisors. The SMA is responsible for audit functions including systematic field auditing and other administrative activities related to ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The SMA will interact with various departmental management staff, including but not limited to the Director's Office, Office of Legal Affairs, Program Services, and Regional Centers (RC). In addition, the SMA will interact and provide information to other State and Federal agencies including the California Health and Human Services Agency, Department of Health Care Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as well as Departmental contractors, service providers, and the public.
Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three percent in exchange for five hours per month of the Personal Leave.

Working Conditions Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.
Pursuant to California Government Code requirements, candidates must be residents of the State of California at the time of appointment.
All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Open-spaced partitioned office environment. Ongoing interaction with Department and RC management staff, vendor management staff, federal and state departments and control agencies. Department Information The California Department of Developmental Services (Department) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers.
