Job Description: Reporting to the Dean, Extension School, the Multilingual Learner (MLL) Program Coordinator is responsible for performing a wide variety of administrative and programmatic duties in support of the development and maintenance of a coherent and effective curriculum. The Program Coordinator provides instructional oversight and coordination of Learning Guides, including supervision of the MLL Learning Guides, as well as operational management of program activities and resources.
Partnership / Client Development
Maintain program approval with the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) and attend RIDE education meetings.
Conduct regular and special program meetings as required, including school district meetings, quarterly Learning Guide meetings, and annual stakeholder meetings.
Identify and cultivate new and emerging school district and community partnerships.
Serve as a primary liaison between the program, school districts, and external partners.
Program Compliance, Curriculum & Quality Assurance
Review and update the MLL Endorsement program to ensure compliance with new and ongoing RIDE MLL Endorsement requirements, including applicable regulations, standards, and reporting obligations.
Collaborate with the Instructional Designer to ensure curriculum structure, assessments, and instructional materials align with RIDE expectations.
Oversee assessment activities, including formative and summative assessments, exit interviews, and evaluation of candidates' final portfolios.
Monitor candidates' progress toward competency attainment; identify candidates in need of support and develop, implement, and monitor Professional Improvement Plans as needed.
Use assessment data and program evaluation findings to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous alignment with instructional standards, professional competencies, and workforce needs.
Enrollment, Recruitment & Student Support
Lead student recruitment and admissions for the MLL Endorsement program, including application review, admissions decisions, onboarding of accepted candidates, and collaboration with Extension School recruiters and district partners to meet enrollment targets.
Serve as the primary point of contact for students, overseeing Conditional Acceptance processes, Performance Improvement Plans, licensure-related recommendations, and ongoing guidance related to program requirements, expectations, and progression.
Instructional Oversight & Learning Guide Coordination
Provide instructional leadership and oversight by supervising and approving program schedules and instructional assignments; serving as a primary point of contact for Learning Guides, Instructional Designers, and instructional staff; and leading regular Learning Guide meetings to ensure instructional alignment, quality assurance, and program compliance.
Promote and evaluate effective teaching practices, including competency-based, online, innovative, and traditional instructional methods, through periodic classroom and online course observations.
Foster a stimulating intellectual environment for students and faculty through Virtual Classroom, and other community outreach initiatives.
Administrative Operations & Reporting
Maintain the D2L Brightspace Learning Management System, staying current on MLL research and instructional resources.
Collaborate with Marketing team to prepare program-related copy for university publications, including website content, catalogs, and promotional materials
Coordinate data and materials required to complete reports.
Staff Supervision / Coordination
Approve program schedules.
Recruit, supervise, and manage Learning Guides, including oversight of instructional responsibilities and assignment of candidates.
Job Requirements:Master's degree in Education or a related discipline.
Three to five years of experience in business, professional, or adult education.
Commitment to and experience in economic development or workforce-related initiatives.
Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and meet established goals.
Demonstrated ability to innovate and implement training programs aligned with employer and market needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, students, and external
community partners.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse audiences such as peers, senior officials, and civic leaders.
Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Bilingual.
Preferred QualificationsRIDE MLL or ESL certification.
Experience with the University's Competency-Based Education systems. Established relationships with local school districts, community organizations, and businesses.
