moreThe AI and Platform Engineer serves as a hands-on technical expert responsible for the design, support, optimization, and advancement of Villanova University's enterprise platforms and AI capabilities. The role provides administration and engineering support for key systems such as Salesforce, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365, while also enabling the effective adoption of emerging AI technologies including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude.
Working within University Technology Services, the engineer partners closely with campus stakeholders, product owners, cybersecurity, data and integration teams, and academic and administrative units to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient technology solutions. The position evaluates business needs, identifies opportunities for automation, develops AI enabled workflows, and ensures platform configurations align with Villanova standards, data governance policies, security requirements, and accessibility expectations.
This role is instrumental in advancing responsible AI adoption across the University and in leveraging modern platforms to improve processes, reduce technical debt, and enhance experiences for students, faculty, and staff. By serving as both a subject matter expert and strategic technical partner, the AI and Platform Engineer contributes directly to Villanova's technology modernization and innovation goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administration, engineering, training, and support for Salesforce, SharePoint, and related enterprise platforms.
- Provide administration, engineering, training, and support for AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude.
- Design, develop, and optimize AI-enabled and platform-enabled workflows, capabilities, and integrations.
- Analyze stakeholder needs and identify opportunities for automation and efficiency using AI and platform capabilities.
- Deliver Tier II/III support and troubleshooting for platform and AI services.
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and standards.
- Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Formal Education: Undergraduate degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
- Work Experience: 5 years experience supporting enterprise platforms, preferably in higher education.
- Work Skills: Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Specific Job Knowledge: Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude). A combination of these tools is required, but candidates may not have experience in every listed tool.
- Equipment Knowledge: Admin consoles, AI interfaces, and workflow automation tools.
- Other: Commitment to continuous learning in AI and platform technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal Education: Master's degree preferred.
- Work Experience: Experience in higher education strongly preferred.
- Work Skills: Advanced presentation, automation design, and solution architecture skills.
- Specific Job Knowledge: Power Automate, Power Apps, API integrations, advanced AI model usage.
- Equipment Knowledge: Cloud monitoring and platform management tools.
- Other: AI or Salesforce certifications preferred.
