What We Are Looking For: We're seeking a
Line Designer to join our team at our Madison, WI headquarters. We're open to entry-level through experienced individuals. This role is a technical Subject Matter Expert position focused on electrical distribution design - a strong individual contributor who will own projects and serve as a trusted resource to internal teams and clients.
What You Will Be Doing: - Embrace, uphold, and live out PSE's core values around People, Problem-Solving, and Progress.
- Design of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, including sub-transmission line routing, ensuring compliance with utility standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop detailed construction drawings, system layouts, and technical specifications using GIS, CAD, and other engineering design tools.
- Provide technical expertise and field support, resolving complex design issues, and ensuring projects are executed according to plan.
- Conduct inspections and engineering analyses of existing distribution infrastructure to evaluate system integrity, reliability, and long-term performance.
- Support infrastructure upgrades and capital improvement projects by managing cost estimates, schedules, engineering calculations, and cross-functional coordination.
What You Will Need: Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical field preferred.
- Relevant coursework or training in electrical distribution systems, CAD, and GIS is a plus.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of overhead and underground electrical distribution and sub-transmission systems.
- Proficiency with CAD and GIS software used for utility design and construction drawings.
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Knowledge of utility standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Compensation: - Salary Range: $67,876 - $80,650 annually.
This salary range reflects the anticipated base salary for
one to five years of experience. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's relevant years of experience, education, and technical expertise.
