Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
- Monitors systems proactively, responds to incidents, logs user reported problems, provides technical support, and escalates critical issues such as network outages and security alerts to appropriate teams for resolution.
- Maintains logs to ensure effective shift handovers and generates after action reports documenting incidents, changes, security events, and other operational activities.
- Monitors operations of data center systems and assists with coordinating maintenance activities for data center equipment and infrastructure including environmental systems, UPS systems, generators, power distribution and cabling.
- Assists with the installation and replacement of data center equipment including network hardware, servers, storage arrays, and other data center system components as directed.
- Ensures secure handling, proper logging, and appropriate data destruction for physical media such as removable storage devices, tape backups, and disk drives.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison for third-party vendors, technicians, and University and USA Health system personnel needing physical access to data center equipment, including escorting them and assisting with power and cabling.
- Conducts routine system support including software updates and security patches.
- Operates peripheral equipment including tape drives, printers, diagnostic tools, etc.
- Remains on 24-hour call.
- Remains on campus or returns to campus as specified to ensure comprehensive coverage during university closures, such as weather events that may include hurricanes or major storms.
- Moves equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. and heavier equipment with assistance.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
