Job DetailsWe are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Commissioning Start-Up Technician to join our project teams in Abilene or Amarillo, TX. In this full-time, on-site role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring our data center construction and operation meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. As part of our team, you will help identify and mitigate risks while ensuring adherence to industry standards and company procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of data center construction projects to ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and industry standards.
- Perform quality control testing on essential data center equipment and infrastructure, including power, cooling, and fire suppression systems.
- Identify and document non-conformance issues, collaborating with the construction team to implement effective corrective actions.
- Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure optimal system functionality.
- Execute testing and commissioning tasks in accordance with designated site specifications and contribute to comprehensive testing documentation.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, tests, and findings for quality assurance purposes.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders throughout the data center lifecycle.
- Facilitate the transition of each system from construction, implement LOTO protocols, and provide technical support to enhance the commissioning process.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and quality standards related to data center construction and operations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of data center quality control programs when necessary.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in mission-critical or industrial-related construction or operations, with a focus on commissioning and start-up of new equipment (data center experience is preferred).
- Strong understanding of Single-Line Drawings and Blueprints.
- Required proficiency in Load Banking and NFPA 70E certification.
- CPR/First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and tablet devices for work tasks.
- A valid driver’s license may be required.
- Ability to manage activities in large construction environments for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven understanding of data center design principles, construction methods, and industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier Standards, BICSI).
- Experience with data center inspection procedures and quality control testing methods.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Additional certifications in the electrical field or data center design/operations (e.g., CDCP, OSHA 10/30) are a plus.
