Summary: The Research Analyst, Senior is responsible for designing research methods, collecting and validating data, performing statistical analysis, and preparing reports used by internal and external stakeholders. This role supports decision-making by ensuring data accuracy, identifying trends, and presenting findings in clear, meaningful formats. Responsibilities:
- Establish methods and procedures to assure quality of data collected to include data collection models and control mechanisms
- Develop sampling and quality control techniques and select samples
- Review incoming data to identify inconsistencies or errors and work directly with data providers or system users to resolve issues
- Build and refine queries, programs or databases to perform data analysis
- Analyze data, interpret trends, and translate findings into meaningful insights that inform decision making
- Assess existing information systems and recommend enhancements
- Edit, clean, and compile statistical data from both manual and automated sources to support reporting needs
- Prepare clear, well-structured reports summarizing findings and recommendations for various users
- Review and update datasets and reports to ensure statistical accuracy and consistency across all outputs
- Partner with internal users to understand data needs, advise on system capabilities, and support effective use of research tools
- Present research findings in written, visual, and verbal formats, including narrative summaries, charts, tables, and presentations
Minimum Qualifications: Good knowledge of:
- Research methods (typically gained by successful completion of at least 6 credits of college-level coursework that covered research methods, OR at least two years of experience that required the use of reference and research methods to complete major tasks)
- Principle of statistics, including sampling theory and probability theory (typically gained by at least six credits of college-level coursework focused on statistics, research or business analytics OR two years of experience in which use of statistics was major responsibility)
Experience:
- Writing analytical (research) reports or materials (typically gained by at least one year of experience analyzing data, drawing conclusions and writing reports or portions of reports supporting research results. Examples of this would include (but are not limited to) providing data collection feedback (such as field sheets), and reviewing trend lines to provide feedback)
- Compiling and analyzing statistical data and drawing conclusions (typically gained by one year of experience compiling and analyzing statistical data and drawing conclusions. Examples would include (but are not limited to) performing trend analysis, analyzing data for quality issues, and making recommendations for improving data quality and completeness)
- Using statistical software or spreadsheet software to perform statistical analysis (typically gained by completion of at least three college-level credit hours using statistical software or spreadsheet software, OR approximately one year of experience using software or spreadsheet software)
