About the role
The P&C Field Testing and Commissioning Engineer performs hands-on relay testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation at high-voltage substations. This travel-heavy role ensures protection systems operate safely and reliably across transmission, distribution, and generation projects.
What You Will Do
Test and commission P&C systems in high-voltage substations
Perform relay testing using Omicron or Doble equipment
Test SEL and GE relays (e.g., SEL-311L, SEL-421, GE L90, GE D60)
Conduct control scheme testing, CT/PT checks, and relay calibration
Support project leads and follow all safety/JHA requirements
Read electrical drawings and logic diagrams
Record test data and prepare field reports
Manage timecards, expenses, and project documentation
Who You Are
5+ years of electrical field testing experience in substations, including breakers, transformers, and protection systems
Proficient with relay families such as SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith
Skilled in performing relay tests using Omicron or Doble test sets
Familiar with industry standards including NETA, IEEE, and NFPA
Hands-on experience with projects ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV
Experienced with testing software such as ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator
