Position Overview
We are looking to add a Senior Electrical Engineer to our growing team in our Oak Ridge, TN office. You will perform a variety of electrical engineering design and construction support functions.
Responsibilities
Survey/assess existing facility and master planning, scoping and estimating level of engineering effort
Field work to assess existing conditions
Report writing
Conceptual design
Design development of drawings, specifications, and calculation analyses
Assist with cost estimating and technical review of design packages
Direct the activities of junior engineering staff for these tasks
Disposition of NCRs
Perform assessments on existing design, respond to RFIs, issue Design Change Notices (DCNs)
Coordinate with Quality on inspections and support development of scopes of work for electrical subcontracts and services during bidding and construction
Answer requests for information, review bids, review shop drawings, conduct site visits during construction, provide commissioning support, host progress meetings, and facilitate project closeout
Qualifications
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑certified institution and 8+ years of electrical engineering design experience
Construction support experience for Title3 activities
Proof of U.S. citizenship required (government customer requirement)
Short‑Circuit Analysis experience
Extensive knowledge of the NEC
Experience leading groups of engineers and designers on major projects
Experience leading technical discussions with clients
Ability to author proposals and Statements of Work (plus)
Preferred Qualifications
PE license
DOE experience
NQA‑1 experience
Arc Flash Analysis experience
Familiarity with Instrumentation & Controls interface
Broad knowledge of electrical systems, including power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load‑flow studies, communications design, grounding design, and equipment selection
Independent production of sizing calculations and other analyses/reports
Experience providing construction support or services during construction
Essential Functions
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting (max 20lbs); 50ft carry distance; hand manipulation for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation
Occasional need to reach above the shoulder or below the shoulder; no foot controls required
Alertness to equipment in the field; occasional travel; work near construction site equipment; occasional exposure to dust, gas or fumes, noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights
Other Essential Functions
U.S. citizenship required
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to work in a team atmosphere and display professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
Appropriate grooming and dress; no safety risks or hazards to employee or others
Pass pre‑employment drug, background check, and site security badge screening
Compensation
$175,000 – $190,000. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
