The Maintenance Supervisor applies mechanical, electrical, and technical principles to analyze production equipment performance, design maintenance and reliability strategies, and drive continuous improvement of manufacturing operations.
The role conducts systematic analysis of equipment data, manufacturing methods, and Key Performance Indicators to recommend solutions that maximize plant efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall manufacturing output.
The position supports the manufacturing facility's Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) objectives through structured analysis, process improvement methodology, and the coordination of a Maintenance production team responsible for executing the maintenance plan.
Essential Job Duties:
• Develops and issues work orders for equipment modifications, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance activities; coordinates implementation with production and scheduling departments to minimize downtime and align with manufacturing schedules.
• Conducts diagnostic analysis and root cause investigation of production equipment, applying mechanical and electrical principles to identify and resolve operational issues, including direct, on-floor troubleshooting.
• Ensures team compliance with plant policies and procedures, including attendance standards, and administers corrective action as necessary.
• Analyzes equipment performance data and generates technical documentation related to OEE and production metrics; identifies root-cause patterns in equipment failure and translates findings into actionable recommendations.
• Designs and conducts safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and tools; develops and facilitates safety training programs grounded in hazard analysis to prevent and correct unsafe conditions.
• Prepares purchase requisitions for materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and replacement parts, applying technical judgment to specifications and stocking levels; may maintain spare parts inventory as required by location.
• Confers with vendors and equipment suppliers regarding product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status to support repair work, capital projects, and equipment upgrades.
• Applies Lean Manufacturing methodologies (Six Sigma, 5S, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and 8D Problem Analysis) to develop manufacturing methods, reduce process variation, and improve operational efficiency.
• Provides technical leadership to the Maintenance team; communicates with management to develop production and performance standards and supports the team in meeting productivity targets.
• Reviews daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and applies statistical analysis to recommend improvements to plant operations, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and resolution of recurring maintenance and reliability problems.
• Designs the layout of plant equipment and workspace to maximize manufacturing efficiency; plans and coordinates the installation, relocation, and removal of plant equipment based on systematic analysis of production flow.
• Designs and recommends technical and safety training programs to ensure Maintenance employees are properly trained in safety, quality, and production standards.
• Serves as back-up to the Maintenance Manager in their absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Baccalaureate or Licenciatura) in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
8+ Years of mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility
At least 2 years of experience leading or supervising in a manufacturing operation
Previous experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred
Strong organizational and technical project planning skills
Exceptional written/verbal communication skills and ability to be a team player
Excellent analytical thinking and innovative problem solving skills
Has the ability to multitask, prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Microsoft Office Proficiency; SAP knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to be on feet up to 12 hours per shift
Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to lift up to 55lbs
Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, 90 plus degrees.
